We know that to lose weight we need to eat less and move more. So why can’t we just do it?
The fact is for most people dieting and exercise regimes do not work. Why? Because when you go on a diet you have to consciously say no to something you like or want… and because you have to consciously make time to exercise it becomes a chore.
You have to continuously, consciously think about not eating, and when this happens, the subconscious mind gets the idea that you are starving yourself. Because its duty is to care for you, and because the preservation instinct kicks in, the subconscious mind says “I am not going to let this happen. You must eat.”
Often, it’s because there’s a lot of baggage in our subconscious that’s weighing us down.
Many of us spend our lives surrounded by negativity from the media, friends and family, which may then create a self-fulfilling prophecy which prevents us from losing weight for good. People hear and use a lot of negative self-talk. “They’ll say, ‘I’m a yo-yo dieter’, or ‘Diets don’t work’. Hypnosis can remove the mental prison bars they’ve made for themselves.
Our negative emotions mean we often eat for the wrong reasons. People will eat when they’re sad, lonely, bored or angry – and then they’ll feel guilty and beat themselves up afterwards, creating a downward spiral. This is what has to change, no amount of emotional eating will help repair yourself.
